Gov. Jim Douglas cut the ribbon and praised founder, president and chief executive Sarah Emery of St. Johnsbury for the spirit and vitality that she and other entrepreneurs bring to Vermont’s economy. He noted that when he was Vermont’s secretary of state during the 1980s he had been concerned about the importance, and difficulty, of verifying the credentials of health care providers. That is the focus of Emery’s business, Cambron Credentials Inc.

Douglas also said St. Johnsbury is being chosen more often as a business location because of the efforts of people like James and Lorraine Impey, who restored the building on Western Avenue that provides attractive office space for Cambron and other businesses.

Lorna Higgs, representing the Northeastern Vermont Development Association, commended Emery for offering job training, benefits and flexible scheduling – all of which make it a workplace friendly to working mothers. She also noted that Cambron is the only business in Vermont that focuses on verifying the credentials of health care providers.

“It is a cutting-edge business that uses advanced technology and that can operate anywhere,” Higgs said. “We’re so pleased that you’re operating here.”

Linda Fogg, of St. Johnsbury Works, said that now, with the ground-floor space on Railroad Street all occupied for the first time in 10 years, Cambron is a great example of businesses that can use local spaces other than downtown and can add to the business diversity in town.
